UI is not dead. It is starting to look the same.
The claim is that models will take over and components no longer matter. The data says something else: generated products are converging on one default look, which is a reason to spend more time reviewing interfaces, not less.

Constraints are how AI stays useful
A model will happily write a second platform inside a pull request. Typed edges, a small design-system surface, and generators are what keep that speed inside the architecture you already chose.

A generated screen still has to be the system
A question can come back as charts and filters. Those have to be the same primitives the rest of the product already ships, or the model has opened a second interface.

Design systems are infrastructure, not UI kits
The systems that last are the ones other teams can depend on: tokens as an API, components as contracts, and a release path that makes the shared decision the easy one.

The frontend is a control plane
Operator interfaces work when navigation, state, and actions follow the system a person is responsible for. A dashboard that only reports on that system is a different product.

Why most micro frontends fail
Independent deploys are a consequence of shared contracts. Split the UI before those contracts exist, and integration moves to production, where it is most expensive.

Offline-first is a product decision
A local database and a retry queue are implementation. The product decision is which actions may succeed before the server agrees, and what a person is owed when the server later disagrees.
